The awkward moment when the waiter or waitress begins to ask everyone at the table white or red…though you do drink wine but by no means are you a wine expert. Many restaurants today don’t recommend paring unless you ask so it’s usually up to you to know if your choice of dish would be better paired with either a nice tall glass of white or red wine.
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, and Riesling are white wines that typically pair well with fish and seafood dishes. Red wines such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec are red wines that pair great with seasoned red meat. Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Merlot have some versatility depending on the dish but usually paired with earthy flavors such as mushrooms, truffles or tomato based sauces.
It’s also all about preference, if you prefer the taste of Pinot Grigio with every dish then Pinot Grigio it is. Do what makes you happy! So the next time you’re asked white or red…you can answer with confidence. Be happy, be inspired. Share your favorite wine with GTTV now!
